Buttercups Still Life
Before you are a delicate, sun-drenched still life executed in a soft pastel palette. At the center of the composition is an elegant bouquet of ranunculus (buttercups) in a tall glass vase. The thin, whimsically curved stems of the flowers create a sense of living movement, as if they are reaching toward an unseen window. The color palette is built on nuances of lemon yellow, warm pink, and muted grey-beige, which are effectively offset by a small blue accent — a tiny bowl with wildflowers in the foreground. Place in the Interior Due to its light coloring and the absence of heavy dark tones, the painting visually expands the space. It will serve as an ideal accent in: • A living room or bedroom decorated in Scandinavian, Provence, or classical styles. • A bright dining room, adding aesthetics and comfort to every meal. • An office or study, creating a calm, inspiring working atmosphere. Before painting, the canvas was covered with a special texture paste, which gives the painting a silky texture. Then it was painted with oil paints.

Irina Zagata
My work is an exploration of light, warmth and quiet moments of beauty in nature. Painting with oil paints, I focus on the tactile qualities of the environment to create textures that bring the canvas to life. Inspired by the Mediterranean sun and the delicate architecture of flowers, my art strives to capture a sense of “homely peace” – a sanctuary of peace for the viewer. Each stroke of the brush is an invitation to stop, breathe and feel the gentle sunshine of a summer day. I did Aliyah in 2025 from Latvia where I was an ophthalmologist and worked in medical field for many years – assisting in surgeries to patients for laser correction, which improving vision without glasses. Also therefore, I began studying art quite late but approached the study of painting with the same medical accuracy – patiently accumulated skills in various painting techniques (including gilding, classical layered oil painting, homemade egg tempera painting – using ground pigments with egg yolk, etc.) before beginning my creative path here in Israel.
