Layers of Frida

Hand embroidery on fabric using cotton thread, lace, appliqué, beadwork, and mixed textile techniques, presented in a decorative textile frame. A contemporary textile homage to Frida Kahlo, exploring identity through layered materials, texture, and handcrafted detail. Embroidery, lace, appliqué, and beadwork build a richly dimensional textile portrait where transparency and overlapping surfaces become part of the visual language. Rather than reproducing an iconic image, the work reinterprets it through stitch, color, and material, transforming a cultural icon into a tactile contemporary textile assemblage with sculptural presence.
