Heilbut Avraham

$405

This captivating watercolor presents t a flourishing, vibrant oasis nestled against a rugged, sun-baked terrain. Executed with fluid, expressive washes, the artwork celebrates a sudden burst of life, where a rich sanctuary of diverse flora—anchored by an iconic, slender palm tree and a majestic, twisting foreground tree—stands out against the dry, rolling dunes behind. The artist masterfully orchestrates a lively palette of deep blues, lush greens, and warm ochres to create a refreshing sense of shelter and abundance. With a charming roofed home safely tucked into this fertile haven beneath a soft, sun-kissed sky, the painting beautifully captures the serene, life-giving spirit of a regional oasis. It would be a poetic acquisition for you.

Heilbut Avraham

Heilbut Avraham

Avraham Heilbut was born in Germany and came on Aliya with his parents in 1938, exactly one year before the outbreak of WWII. He was a resident of Haifa all his life here, married to Doris and father of two sons. He attended art lessons even before his military service during the War of Independence. He served in the Israeli army until discharge from reserve duty. Avraham studied painting with the best painters of Haifa of that time, Avraham Yaskiel, Menachem Shemi and Zvi Meirovitch. Yaskiel and Shemi had a major influence on his style, just as painters of the impressionist period. In some of his paintings a real influence of artists like Van Gogh and Manet can be noted. He used to draw sketches on trips in Israel and abroad which gave him inspiration to paint them later in oil or water colors. He made a living teaching art in schools in Haifa and surroundings. Many of his students owe their relationship to art to his lessons. He was a member of the Haifa Painters and Sculptors Association and participated in many group exhibitions. He never stopped painting till his last days.
