"The Grace Of Silence"

A few simple objects on a table and a burning candle. A restrained, classical palette. Behind this apparent simplicity lies a symbolic structure: an old book with a marked page invites unhurried reading; simple fruits may at any moment offer natural sweetness and nourishment; the flame of the candle, as a sign of the right to contemplation, almost suspends time. The language of painting itself — slow, attentive, built on subtle transitions of light and shadow — presupposes a mode of perception in which the gaze gradually slows down and the soul enters a state of quiet concentration and peace. The artist experiences this possibility of slow, attentive painting as a personal privilege of silence and chooses to share it with the viewer. At first glance a simple still life, the work opens to the contemporary viewer one of the most precious experiences in an accelerating world — the right to pause, the privilege of silence.

Marta Sheynis

I was born in the Soviet Union into a multi-generational family of artists, absorbing the foundations of classical art from an early age. I earned my second Master's degree (MFA) in Painting and Theater from the Ukrainian Academy of Fine Arts. Today, I live and work in northern Israel, in the city of Nahariya, where I teach art, stage directing and painting. My work is rooted in a deep classical tradition, which I reinterpret through a personal and contemporary lens. In my paintings, I devote significant time to the process, carefully exploring every detail, and combining traditional classical techniques with modern materials—striving to create works of depth, sensitivity, and timeless quality.
