פרי הלוהט
חופן פלפלים ירוקים מתפתלים על פני השולחן, צורתם תלויה בין תנועה לדממה. מול האדום, הם נראים כזוחלים, כרוקדים — כמעט כמו נחשים בטקס, או כגדילים חיים משערותיה של מדוזה. הפלפלים נושאים עמם שפה של חוסן ואש. בתרבויות רבות הם מרחיקים עין רעה, סמלים של פריון, חיוניות ומזל. החום שלהם מדבר על תקיפות, על אומץ, על ניצוץ המתנגד לפגיעה באמצעות להט גדול יותר. האדום שמאחוריהם רוטט בסתירות משלו: אהבה וסכנה, חיים ואזהרה, תשוקה ומרד. יחד הם יוצרים סצנה של מתיחות חרישית, שבה הגנה ותשוקה מתקיימות זו לצד זו. טבע דומם שכמעט נושם — פועם באנרגיה של השתנות.
